Work is underway to produce a new photographic guidebook to the wildflowers and flowering shrubs of the Sierra Nevada, California's biggest mountain range. The author is Joanna Clines, Forest Botanist for Sierra National Forest, and the primary photographer is Stephen Sharnoff. We anticipate that it will illustrate approximately 750 species with color photographs and will cover the entire range including the foothills. Voucher specimens were collected for almost every photograph, and they have been deposited in the Jepson Herbarium at the University of California Berkeley.

The project was originally conceived by Sylvia Sharnoff in 1997, but she died the following year and was unable to see it approaching completion. Some of her photographs are on the following pages.

The photographs taken for this book are not being offered for other uses at this time except by special arrangement.
